CARDIAC SARCOIDOSIS

Indication: For evaluation of idiopathic cardiomyopathy.

CARDIAC SARCOIDOSIS

Findings:

Linear sub-endocardial & mid-myocardial late gadolinium enhancement and moderate hypokinesia are seen involving basal antero-septal segment of left ventricle.

Linear & nodular abnormal late gadolinium enhancement and moderate hypokinesia are seen involving basal infero-septal segment of left ventricle.

Linear mid-myocardial late gadolinium enhancement and moderate hypokinesia are seen involving mid infero-septal segment of left ventricle.

  • No e/o obvious myocardial edema.
  • No e/o perfusion defect at rest.
  • No e/o mediastinal or axillary lymphadenopathy.

Above-described features are s/o a Granulomatous Cardiomyopathy like Cardiac Sarcoidosis.

Discussion:

Sarcoidosis is a rare inflammatory condition that can affect multiple organs. In cardiac sarcoidosis, tiny collections of immune cells form granulomas in the heart tissue and can interfere with normal functioning.
