Preparation : For spine x-rays, it is necessary to have the bowel clear and so two Dulcolax tablets should be taken the previous night and the patient should come fasting.
Time taken in Actual Study : 10-20 minutes

1. Barium Study

Preparation : For barium study, it is necessary to have the bowel clear and so two Dulcolax tablets should be taken the previous night and the patient should come fasting.
For barium, the patient should remain on liquid diet for 24 hours, four Dulcolax tablets should be taken the previous night and the patient should come fasting.
Time taken in Actual Study : 10-20 minutes for barium swallow and meal. 1-2 hours for follow-through.
